DISCLAIMER: My CEO doesn’t know I’m writing this post so I’ll have to ask for forgiveness later! She’s especially not going to like that I used her head shot as the leading photo. Whoops.

For most people, there’s a level of intrinsic motivation that uniquely drives us at work. There are also baseline extrinsic motivators like a paycheck and benefits. But, what else drives us to engage with our work and create great experiences, products, or services for our customers? In my opinion, the attitudes, styles and passion conveyed by our leaders is the best way to improve employee engagement. Without these traits, it becomes very difficult to create a highly engaged company culture.

…the most important employee engagement driver comes from the attitudes, style and passion conveyed by our leaders…

So, to put my theory to test, I decided to ask whether or not YouEarnedIt’s CEO drives employee engagement for our company. In other words, how does our leader lead? What are her traits, behaviors, attitudes and actions that drive job satisfaction and build a happy and engaged company?

Autumn Manning, YouEarnedIt CEO:

Passion: Autumn exudes her enthusiasm every day and her energy is contagious. She engages with her emotions, logic, and strong instincts. I like to say she runs with the wolves which I believe to mean she trusts her instincts and is authentic in her passion.

Compassion: She is thoughtful and patient. She listens and spends time with everyone in the company. She genuinely cares about her employees and our families.

Motivation: She empowers us to succeed and encourages us to take calculated risks. She has or will tackle any challenge she asks us to manage. She’s got our back and we know it.

Humility: She is not afraid to share the ups and downs and challenges of running a fast-paced technology start-up. She’s super confident but down to earth. We’ve got her back and she knows it.

Appreciation: She is consistent in showing how much she appreciates employee efforts, publicly and often. This behavior is modeled by the entire company and encourages us all to practice what we preach when it comes to YouEarnedIt fostering happiness at work.

Check out some of Autumn’s recent recognition posts to see just a few examples of how she shares her passion and shows her appreciation to us lucky dogs at YouEarnedIt:
